We are located in the Mallee, Victoria with dedicated facilities for breeding and showing Lowchen and Quarter Horses.
The Estate
Located in the Mallee on 20 acres with a seasonal dam, this classic rural estate is used for the breeding, training, preparation and exhibition of both Lowchen and Quarter Horses.
The private residence is a 1956 built homestead which the family enjoys. It features expansive lawns and a rose-scape garden. Further landscaping is currently under development.
Kilgarrin Estate has two main components, The Lowchen Lodge and The Sovereign Grounds, both of which cater to elite performance and heritage breeding rooted in best practice.
Our story
While Kilgarrin has been established since 1971, the establishment of Kilgarrin Estate by Devon was a much newer endeavour. The property was purchased in 2018 with the intention of creating and constructing facilities to support the ongoing preservation of the Lowchen breed and the boutique breeding of elite Quarter Horses.
Like all good things, developing the property has been a slow process. As we have gotten to know the land, ideas around the development of the property has changed course to ensure that natural features of the land are used for the benefit of facilities rather than needing correction.
The Lowchen Lodge

The Löwchen Lodge is a twenty year vision of care. Our facilities are the physical expression of two decades spent devoted to the "Little Lion." We believe that a breeding environment should be a sanctuary—a place where architectural excellence meets the warmth of a family home. Our estate is purpose-built to exceed modern standards, prioritising biosecurity, mental enrichment, and the specific well-being of the Löwchen breed.
The Sovereign Grounds
Defined by detail, driven by performance.
Complementing the refinement of the Lodge, The Sovereign Grounds is our dedicated open-air equine facilities. Framed by the clean, modern silhouette of Monument post-and-rail fencing, this facility is designed for the athletic development, breeding and daily well-being of our Quarter Horses. Here, we embrace the freedom of the ranch lifestyle with the meticulous standards of a premier equine facility.

Whether we are sharing a rugged ranch-style feast after training in the Arena or enjoying a quiet glass of wine as the sun sets over the Glades, this space is defined by friendship and flavour. It is our favourite place to welcome friends, old and new, to pull up a chair, share a meal, and become a part of the legacy of the Lodge."
